IDS Research Reports - 60
Over the past few years DFID have increased their efforts to promote social transfers and social protection. The outcomes and impacts of social transfers and social protection schemes and DFID-influencing activities vary greatly relative to the unique conditions that were applied in specific contexts. What has worked well in one context may work very differently under a different set of conditions in another context. However, a set of generalised findings can be identified that support the knowledge and evidence base on the range of options available for social protection programming and policy debates. Findings, therefore, should be examined further in specific contexts rather than being used as prescriptive and definitive policy options.
